Want to be part of a WWS compilation video? Watch these videos that show you how to perform the Cup Song (from "Pitch Perfect"). Practice slowly until you have mastered the movements, then record yourself playing along with the performance video and send it to me (a short clip from any part of the song is fine!). We will showcase your talent in our upcoming online talent show!
Grade 5 Instrumental Pieces
On February 27th, grade 5 students from Mr. Murray's class attended the LSSD Instrument Festival, where they performed two pieces - "Tambourine", a Czech folk song; and "Shepherd's Hey", an English dance for recorder consort. We are hoping to perform these pieces for our own school next! Here are recordings of both pieces, which can be used for listening or practicing until we are together again.
Practice Suggestions - Tambourine
Listen to the recording and clap/tap the bass xylophone part, then the tambourine part
If you have your recorder at home, try to play along with one of the three recorder parts
Movement suggestions: choose a part and create "body bag" movements to complement the music!
Practice Suggestions - Shepherd's Hey
Listen to the recording and see if you can fit your own part into the arrangement. If you don't have your recorder at home, you still can practice the fingerings!
Check out the YouTube video of a recorder consort playing this piece. What are the similarities and differences?
